The Journalist is a Time Lord known for writing articles and lies about various individuals such as Madame Rarkingwood. At the academy, he and The Master pulled a prank on The Original Doctor, resulting in the end of his friendship with The Master.
The Journalist later encountered The Pompous Doctor, who had been summoned to destroy the blackmail the Journalist had on a "former associate" of his. Enraged by then being blackmailed by the Doctor, and thinking one of his employees Jim had made a "miss" of his office desk (when it was actually the Doctor's pug dog Martin), the Journalist proceeds to fire Jim.
